Vox Day misses the head of the nail in his latest Voxiversity video, when he asserts that the replication problem in science is due to lack of honest Christians. The problem is lack of viewpoint diversity, or more fundamentally, the lack of understanding that such diversity is necessary for science to work. Christians could provide that diversity, in many cases, but their contribution would be their differing viewpoint, not their greater honesty. Christians have as much trouble with motivated reasoning as atheists. Reading Jonathan Haidt’s “The Righteous Mind” (or just watching some of his youtube videos) would make this clear: unless one were motivated to believe otherwise….
